| GroundWorks is recognized within the homebuilding industry as a company where safety comes first. Every foreman’s truck is fully equipped with standard safety equipment and tools such as back supports, goggles, and water jugs. Customer Service/Safety Director Roger Ourthiague provides the equipment, information, and enthusiasm crucial for maintaining a safe work environment through monthly foremen meetings. This safety information is then passed on to all GroundWorks employees through weekly tailgate meetings at the job sites by foremen who address safety topics with each individual worker. A weekly tally sheet tracks attendance at all safety meetings. Should an employee miss a meeting, the GroundWorks office staff reinforces the company’s commitment to safety by sending him a letter, requiring that he work with his supervisor to make up for the lesson. Additionally, GroundWorks reinforces our own rigorous safety criteria on a daily basis with crew members.
GroundWorks has successfully established a true safety culture throughout the company. Our reputation for safety is so impressive that Roger has been invited to serve as a guest speaker on the subject of maintaining a safe work environment for Shea Homes’ trade partners. Additionally, Shea Homes has recognized many of GroundWorks’ employees with safety awards in recent years.
“I value GroundWorks as a trade partner because of the commitment by the management team to safety, the attitude towards safety by their employees in the field, and their outstanding quality of work.”
